16 cars arrived for the "real" start at Muckross house.Strong contingents from the Cork and Limerick parts of S.R. were joined by 2 visitors from N.E. region, Robert and the great Ivan ( who many of us had only known from the forum) who drove his new arrival , a very smart Guards Red 911 997 2S.

The selection of cars starting was great with nice 944, 928, Boxsters, Caymans, 996/997 911's and a smattering of oldie 911's to make it interesting.

The drive started with the ascent to Molls Gap and then headed down the Sneem Road before turning "off road" for the Ballaghbeama gap.

This road and the following stage over the Ballaghasheen Pass were, both, a relevation to many. Twisty, narrow, spectacular and at all times putting smiles on the drivers faces. We descended into Cahirciveen and on the The Skellig visitor centre for lunch where we were joined by John Guerin and his wife in their Japanese 911 3l import. Beautiful car.

Then it was on to the Skelligs ring, with spectacular views of the Rocks emerging from the wild Atlantic.

Before Waterville the column wound left, back through the wilds and over the mountains, through Glencar to finish, with all of the comforts of the Killarney lakes Golf and Fishing Club Bar before splitting up and heading home.

A great day out and brilliant driving. See the pics taken by Andrzej, Neil and Paul's video of the descent from the Ballaghasheen Pass:
