Cars from the Southern Region have signed up for a trip organised by Scenic & Continental Car Tours to Northern France. The trip is for Irish Porsche owners and all who might wish to join us are welcome.

We have booked on the Brittany Ferries luxury flagship ferry, "the Pont-Aven" which departs from Ringaskiddy, Cork at 16.00 hrs on Saturday May 17th 2014 for Roscoff. Return arrival to Cork on Saturday May 24th.

Britanny Ferries have offered us a 10% discount for these sailings.

Book the Ferry directly with Britanny Ferries (021-4277801) - €408 ( less 10%) for a car and 2 persons in a 2 berth cabin. Britanny Ferries recommend 2 persons in a 4 berth cabin, at a small extra charge. 25% deposit on booking and the balance by April 1st.

Price is €429/person sharing. Single rooms are available at a supplement.

20% deposit and the balance 10 weeks before departure. Pay by cheque or by bank transfer.

Included in the price:-

(1) B&B for 5 nights in France - 4 star hotels.

(2) Evening meals (set menu) at the hotels in Le Mans and Nantes.

(3) on site parking at all hotels.

(4) Road book with itinerary, suggestions, places of interest/ driving routes.

Not included:-

Drinks, breakdown service ( take out insurance which will repatriate both you, your passengers and you car), meals on board ship and lunches, evening meals at Ambois and Roscoff, entry to historic sights and museums.

Book the hotel package first as places are limited - late bookers may be booked in different nearby hotels, if a large number travel. Scenic & Continental Car tours will advise on all of that.

The combined price (Brittany Ferries + Scenic & Continental Car Tours) works out at €633/ person sharing ( car & 2 persons).

All bookings are made as individuals and everyone on the trip is totally responsible for themselves.

Itinerary:-

Day 1.( Sat. May 17 th 2014) Depart Ringaskiddy, Cork at 4pm.

Day 2. Sun 18th. Arrive Roscoff and drive to Mont St. Michel - a world heritage site and a " must see" in France. Drive time 2.5 hrs approx. Breakfast at Mont St. Michel. Continue to Le Mans (2 hrs approx) and check into your hotel. Evening meal at hotel.

Day 3. Mon 19th May. Morning - visit the Le Mans 24 Hour Motor Museum, view the race track and drive the open road sections, including the famous Mulsanne Straight.

Afternoon - depart for the hotel at Ambois visiting a chateau or other attraction on the way.

Evening- dine at restaurant of your choice.

Day 4. Tues 20th May. Visit the historic town of Amboise and the chateau where Leonardo De Vinci spent his last days. See 40 of Leonardo's remarkable inventions. Afternoon - take in a tour of this area of the Loire , visit a vineyard.

Evening- dine at restaurant of your choice.

Day 5. Wednesday 21st May. Pick you destination for the day ( choices in the road book). Visit Tours, Blois, Orleans ( site of the victory of Joan of Arc) and the chateaux and pretty villages along the way.

Day 6.Thursday 22 May . Breeze down the a Loire valley, on scenic roads towards the west and the hotel at Nantes . Dine in hotel.

Day 7.Friday 23 rd May.

After breakfast, drive the scenic Britanny coast to Concarneau, for lunch.

Afternoon - Continue on to Roscoff where you may dine at one of the pretty restaurants near the harbour or you may opt to dine on ship.

Embark the ferry at 20.30 hrs for departure at 21.30.

Day 8. Sat. 24th May - Arrive Ringaskiddy at 10.00 am.

Driving in a France - approximately 1100 km (700 Mls.).
